If you don’t know, it is an honor just to have a qualifying time in an event for the Texas Relays. However, several Unicorn girls not only qualified in multiple events, but had some amazing and record setting performances.
On Thursday Night Gabby Thompson won the 2000m Steeplechase event by an impressive 9 seconds!

Just a few hours later Morgan Szekely had to be the 1200m starting leg for the New Braunfels Unicorn Distance Medley Relay team. She was followed by Amanda Gonzales’ 2nd leg 400m who handed the baton to Keomi Hamlin for the 3rd leg 800m. Paige Hofstad ran the 1600m anchor leg to bring the Unicorn girls in at a 12:07.94 – good for 5th place and a National Elite level time in the DMR.
Saturday morning kicked off with Keomi Hamlin and Paige Hofstad taking the track at 8:15AM in the 3200m against a stacked field of distance runners after their late night DMR on Friday. Paige took home the gold with a 10:27.83. Keomi was 17th place with an 11:08.04.
